After the Ides of March

Someone has asked me to speak to some “special reports,” such as “A Gender Identity Disorder Goes Mainstream” produced by the alleged “Traditional Values Coalition” and sporting the nifty little byline stating that “Crossdressers, Transvestites, And Transgenders Become Militants in the Homosexual Revolution.” I disagree with the concept of this organization’s name since their actions are far from tradition that is of value to me. To me this “special report” and its author(s) are of no value, and assuredly not any traditional value to which I have ever been exposed.

I personally don’t think there is a damn thing wrong with teaching little children that it is ok if one or more of them want to play dress-up, dress in whatever gender style they wish, and behave age-appropriately for whatever gender role they are working out. In case anyone hadn’t noticed, most people experiment with some sort of role playing when they were little kids. In whatever span of time examined, there is bound to be one child that will cross gender lines. Who cares what the numbers are - anywhere from the too-extreme conservative estimate of 1 in 30,000 to the one in one hundred that some organizations have reported - isn’t one child enough to be concerned about? If one child is gender variant, let him or her be. What good would it do to force a child one way or another?

Decent folks don’t force the dog - they know how to let him choose to obey while giving him the freedom to be and act as a dog. Would you treat your own child any differently than a dog? And, if the dog doesn’t obey, maybe the dog gets put outside. Would you treat your child better than the dog?

In any case, your child is your child, regardless of gender, and deserves far better than the dog. Children, in case the TVC hasn’t yet noticed, are a traditional value, regardless of whether or not anyone is transgendered.

Would you betray your own child and treat them worse than the dog? That surely is death, of no value regarding your own child, and not traditional in my humble opinion.

Have you ever noticed that if you catch a boldly false statement in print by an organization, and no retraction from the lie, that you tend to start distrusting what is written on their letterhead? For example, the International Olympic Committee has not “passed a new regulation that allows male-to-female and female-to-male transgendered individuals to compete in future Olympic games.”

Look how easily it falleth trippingly from the text editor: The IOC has passed regulations regarding treatment of individuals who have a medical history regarding gender assignment.  See? Even I can word it nicely. It says men can compete as men, and women can compete as women. It defines men and women in a way that this “special report” from Anaheim, California and C Street in D.C. doesn’t seem to like, based on an unusual medical history.

I challenge anyone who thinks they can undergo gender reassignment just so they can compete as a woman to go right ahead and give it a try. I’ll make the requirement easy: During the first 10 years past SRS (Sexual Reassignment Surgery) compete in one Olympics.

Congratulations to all who make it.

These arguments based in blatant bigotry are always about the body, and gender is a big thing for some folks. It isn’t that big a deal for me. For example: What’s wrong with two transsexuals marrying each other? Why should I care about this? Am I truly supposed to believe that the fall of civilization will occur because two transgendered people love each other and want to make this commitment ?

Would it be better or worse if only one was a transsexual?

Why is this even news worthy of a “special report”? Some lunatic writes lies and stirs up emotion and points to a couple that doesn’t, apparently, fit into the lunatic’s idea of who will or will not be valued; not valued because they are not a couple who will be considered traditional by this organization - an organization that does not exhibit traditional values, unless you count traditional bigotry and slavery as a value. Do people really believe this pile of garbage that is a “special report” from the “Traditional Values Coalition”? It certainly doesn’t have value to me, because bigotry and slavery are not something I want to consider as traditions.

If I were to believe this “special report,” then evidently every single cartoon character ever created is a part of the Homosexual Revolution that is now including those horrible crossdressers, transvestites and transsexuals. Oh joy, in another “special report,” I am going to find out about those awful, terrible, intersexed people who are speaking up about having had their genitals mutilated as children, surgically mutilated by doctors for cosmetic purposes in order to fit nicely into some of the more esoteric “traditional values” that are actually of no value.

Who is kidding whom?

I see that the Coalition has uncovered a movement that is trying to normalize sex changes. Why is it my business to be concerned about this? I am not afraid of billions of people getting sex changes, competing in the Olympics, and marrying each other. Call me silly on this, but I just don’t see it happening anytime soon, so there is no reason at all for me to place any special value on that concept.

And if it did happen, guess what? It would still be of no value to me. I don’t care. I’d stay home and might for once watch the Olympics, but I wouldn’t get a sex change, because I am fine as I am, thank you very much, and I would enjoy the children and the pets and the warm fireplace. And I’d still go to work every day, and though perhaps upon occasion I might get someone’s pronouns mixed up, I would still do the same good work I always aim to do. These, for the benefit of the TVC, are called traditional values.

There is a picture of Leslie Feinberg in this very special report about the normalization of sex changes, transsexual Olympic athletes, and militant transgenders assaulting everything that is sacred and patriotic by declaring they have the right to express their genders as they see fit. The caption under the picture of Leslie Feinberg references her book “Transgender Warriors.” I happen to have the book, and I am still looking for the alleged pornographic photographs of she-males. It’s a book about people throughout history who have crossed gender lines. I recommend the book.

Why would anyone write such garbage about people and call it a “special report”? Why would anyone read it? Is it even possible that anyone really believes this? This must be a spoof “special report.” They can’t be serious.

The TVC report officially proclaims that “maleness and femaleness are in the DNA and unchangeable.” Evidently no one that wrote this special report worked on their intersex report, or they would know about 5-ARDAIS, and other intersex conditions - or at least one would hope they do some research prior to bubbling up a special report on things unknown to their editorial staff. Perhaps they should all read “The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism,” May 2000, p. 2034-2041, Copyright 2000, The Endocrine Society, Vol. 85, No. 5, for a primer on the biological nature of medical transsexualism.

I hate when folks proudly proclaim a fact that is not factual. I then tend to start trusting that what they say has no value. Are lies traditional now?

This TVC report actually states that those who “promote sex change operations are operating under the delusion that one’s gender is changeable.” Apparently the TVC has not examined the medical guidelines for gender reassignment.  I would hardly call it “promoting” and I would not say that one’s gender is changed, but that the body is more properly aligned with the true gender.

And it is my humble opinion that undertaking such a process surely takes a uniquely strong individual with a serious medical need. Traditional values in this situation are compassion and respect, not lies, demonizing, and vilification.

Finally we read The Gender Bill of Rights, as published by this “special report.”

What is wrong with the individual freedom to express gender?
What is wrong with the freedom to control one’s own body?
What is wrong with the right to competent medical & professional care?
What is wrong with the freedom from psychiatric diagnosis for gender expression?
What is wrong with the rights to form committed loving relationships and marital contracts, adoption, custody, visitation?

In answer, TVC claims that “no rational person” has the right to define their own gender.

Excuse me? And TVC wants to define people’s gender? I really had no idea they were experienced in the medical field of gender assignment. Oh yes, they will define your gender for you, and mine for me, and control our bodies? Based on what traditional value? (Hint: someone who has no will of their own and is controlled by another is called a slave. I am getting a clue as to the exact “traditional” values of the TVC.)

It must be after the Ides of March. A special report has betrayed its superiors and demonstrated the exact nature of the values in question. That’s a killer.

I submit that the TVC is operating under the delusion that they can fool all of the people all of the time. And that, dear reader, is not only a tradition of the TVC, but also is of no value to anyone else.

The TVC doesn’t have upstanding moral traditional values. I’ll stick to my spouse, children, pets, home, job, and all such things, that I call traditional values, instead.
